We partnered with 3L Living on real estate SEO services—including keyword research, messaging strategy, and local search optimization for their South Loop, Hyde Park, and Milwaukee properties—helping the lifestyle and property management company stand out in the competitive student rental market.
The Challenge
3L Living provides attractive, affordable, modern housing options for college students and young professionals in Chicago's South Loop and Hyde Park neighborhoods, as well as in downtown Milwaukee.
With seven unique properties offering young professionals access to the best neighborhoods and great amenities, 3L Living wanted to make sure they could engage their key audience with well-aligned keywords highlighting the unique differentiators and amenities they know renters are looking for.
The company hoped to align their search strategy with their business goals, and enlisted the expertise of Sarah Best Strategy.
Specifically, 3L Living hoped to:
Improve organic (unpaid) search engine rankings for their website;
Accurately present information on each of their seven locations; and
Become empowered to continue implementing and measuring these SEO efforts after our engagement had concluded.
The Idea
SBS was thrilled to partner with 3L Living, and met with the team to determine the company’s business and marketing goals. SBS identified two essential steps that would empower the company to reach a larger audience: keyword research and local search optimization.
Keyword Research: In order to boost their organic search engine rankings, 3L Living needed to expand the placing of keywords strategically onto their website and formalize their tracking of keyword performance. In support of this effort, SBS:
Researched 3L Living’s top wishlist keywords, identifying the most optimal variants;
Presented a final list of 50 keyword suggestions;
Researched competitors and peers for keyword ideas, and determined which keywords their competitors were also ranking for; and
Provided the team with coaching on the basics of search and on-page optimization, with advice on how to increase their domain authority.
Local Search Optimization: In order to ensure each of 3L Living’s properties enjoyed optimum search results, SBS focused on optimizing and/or creating the following: 3L Living’s Google My Business (GMB), Bing Places for Business, Yelp, and YellowPages.com listings. In addition SBS:
Set up or optimized individual listings for every location, creating specific descriptions and images to differentiate each property;
Optimized each GMB listing to help it stand out from the competition with attractive photography and other profile features; and
Cross-posted GMB listings to Bing Places for Business, as well as claiming 3L Living'sYelp and Yellow Pages listings.
The Results
3L Living completed their project with SBS with a more tactical search strategy that better aligned with their growth and branding goals.
With a more optimized website and a treasure trove of keywords, 3L Living can continue to improve their organic search engine rankings.
